Hello and thank you for choosing one of my favorite ships to put through the wringer! H/C is my favorite trope so this exchange is always like Christmas for me. Treats of all kinds are very welcome.

I am A-OK with graphic violence that falls short of outright permanent maiming beyond what canon's already done to them. Any range of explicit fic is welcome, from gen to E. Freeforms are prompts in and of themselves! Not all freeforms have extra prompts elaborating on them, and amount of prompts does not correspond to any kind of favoritism, I am just very wordy - I will be happy with any chosen pairing and any free form.

DNWs: noncon, A/B/O, D/s with lots of formal negotiation, face-sitting, bathroom related bodily fluids, violence directed at genitals, pregnancy, bashing of canon love interests (if it's an / fic set when McNider should canonically married, I'm equally fine with Myra being ignored, the reunion not being as rosy a picture as he'd painted or with him feeling guilty about the emotional or actual infidelity and managing to compartmentalize it as long as it's not the main focus), permanent character death of named characters not dead in canon, setting change/no power AUs

General likes: UST finally spilling over, first time/get together fics, unspoken feelings that stay unspoken but are blindingly obvious anyway, bedside vigils/general watching over someone, fraught handholding (especially combined with the bedside vigiling) angst and uncertainty leading into happy endings, sneaking around, sex pollen especially when it’s one-sided, bloodplay, knifeplay, clothes sharing, dramatic rescues/sacrifices, pining, rope bondage, breathplay, road trips, significant gestures, missing scenes/episode tags, time travel, Groundhog Day loops, True Love Saves the Day, 5 Things fics, crossroad deals/deals with the devil, any and all kinds of supernatural nonsense, unexpected acts of kindness, someone physically putting themselves between a loved one and harm, creative use of superpowers

Shadenite

I love these two so, so much - I requested both / and & because there are definitely periods where things would not be very romantic between them, and I will be very happy with anything where they're intense about each other. I love JSA era, with the two of them first meeting and making those tentative first steps toward trusting each other - from what we see of him in canon it seems like it has been a WHILE since Shade's had anyone in his life who care if he was hurt. They're both people who had incredibly traumatic things that irrevocably changed them as their origin stories and reacted in the exact opposite ways: Charles kept pushing forward twice as hard and decided to superhero it up, while the Shade withdrew from the people who loved him and tried real hard to pretend to himself that he didn't have feelings (when he has so many feelings.) I love that push and pull, and how Charles is the person he finally lets himself reach out to. And in canon era I love how Charles was completely vindicated about who the Shade was. Just love them a lot.

I enjoy Todd and Jennie-Lynn a bunch, feel free to include them if the time set and story allow it!

Extra Prompts

- Pain or injury making the Shade very obviously nonhuman - being ice cold to the touch, turning intangible if he doesn't focus, bleeding shadows instead of blood, shadows moving beneath his skin, him being too weak or it being too painful to hold his form (maybe with McNider having coax him out of shadow form, or hold his hand to keep him solid) etc. I'd prefer him not being kicked all the way back to baseline human, even magically.

- The Shade goes to the Shadowlands for what is supposed to be a quick trip, but the Shadowlands won't let him leave (because Eclipso still has a sliver of power there and he's going to use all of it making the Shade suffer? Another enemy ambushes him there? He goes in already hiding an injury and doesn't have enough juice to get out? ~Something~ there liked having McNider as an unusually long term resident and is trying to lure him back? Go nuts)

- The Men of Tears get their hands on him again, and they intend to get the ritual right this time

- the Shade gets hurt enough/is in enough pain that he just thinks the Men of Tears have him again, and McNider needs to talk him down

- Anything with Simon Culp possessing him, with or without the rest of the Men of Tears (because let's be real, he was definitely one of the Men of Tears)

- JSA era Shade goes on what certainly looks like a murder spree and the JSA is making plans to take him down, but McNider knows there's no way this is what it looks like

- JSA era Shade shows up hurt at McNider's clinic or at his house because he's the best of his bad options and he trusts his enemy more than he trusts Dragon King or anyone else in the ISA knowing he's hurt (anything with McNider finding Shade dying on his kitchen floor, really)

- Shade coming to in McNider's house but not remembering what happened to him or how he got there

- early JSA era Shade gets hurt in a "if he makes it through the night he'll be fine" way, and McNider sits with him the whole time with Shade having a hard time wrapping his mind around why he would care

- Shade takes a full power blast of green fire or from the staff, etc, and McNider keeps an eye on him/tracks him down after the fight because he knows he's hurt bad

- McNider not knowing how to fix what's wrong with him because he's made of shadows and not blood, or having to improvise surgery to save him (McNider just being stubborn as hell about not letting him die in general)

- Pick an evil DC scientist - they've snatched the Shade to figure out how he works/they want to weaponize what he does/genuinely think they're doing the JSA a solid and McNider goes, "Oh no, I'm not good with any of this."

- The JSA catches him but how they caught him/how they're holding him/both is killing him but Shade is being so annoying about it that only McNider believes him

- Someone - the Spectre, Alan, Wesley in a dream, or really any of the JSA hotheads find out about the night Shade dropped by McNider's house (or if he's dropped by any other nights!) and immediately leap to the worst possible conclusion - that he's threatening McNider, or there's mind control happening, etc., and decide they need to do something about it

- Variation on the above where Alan was in love with Charles back in the JSA days but so deeply closeted even he didn't realize it, and anyway Chuck was such a family man that nothing could come of it even if he could look at what he felt directly (from the kids' ages we know Charles was probably the first to have a child, if she'd lived Rebecca would be a couple of years older than the twins,) and he reacts poorly when he finds out Charles' personal life is much messier than he'd realized, either when everything was falling apart at the end or after Alan gets resurrected. (In general I am always up for those last few months being messier than we've seen - we only know what Pat knows, and Pat both puts the JSA on a pedestal and only really knows what Sylvester knew, we saw that at least some of the members kept Pat at arm's length. Even if they personally were friends, McNider was very unlikely to be confiding anything the Shade related to Pat or Sylvester.)

- Stretching the term "hero" a little bit - Ultra-Humanite sure did seem to be feeling out what the hell was going on there, right? I'd love an S3 AU where he pokes at that a little bit more (this also works for the Hurt Charles catagory!)

- One of the JSA comes back from the dead a little crazy and goes right for the Shade, either because they don't realize it's been ten whole years or they don't believe that anyone is safe as long as any of the ISA are left (I always love the Spectre for this kind of thing, or Alan panicking when he see Shade with his kids, or even Starman once he gets re-brained and can't make sense of Shade and McNider being close and Shade being so accepted)

- JSA era McNider makes a device that's only supposed to slow the Shade down, but it almost kills him/will kill him unless he's able to reverse it (bonus angst points if anyone on the JSA is all "Wow Doc, that worked great, congratulations!" about the whole thing and he absolutely does not agree.)

- Shade being hurt enough that he's cold or can't catch his breath, and being afraid or confused because that hasn't been something he's had to worry about for almost 200 years

- The green fire burns he got in the Shadowlands aren't healing or are actively getting worse, and McNider knows the second he looks at him even though he seems fine to everyone else

- Anything with the Shade getting possessed/mind controled/Eclipsed and McNider walking right up to him and telling him to go ahead and kill him and of course he can't

- During the period between Rebecca dying and the final fight ISA fight when the JSA was getting real paranoid and jumpy someone gets convinced that the Shade was/is working with Eclipso and takes matters into their own hands

- Shade gets hit with an attack that is killing him and McNider reflexively reaches out to him, and the Shade winds up sharing his body until he recovers and can materialize again

Extra PromptsExtra Prompts:

- The Maronis kidnap McNider off the street because they are very interested in why he's suddenly reappeared after falling off the face of the earth for ten years

- the ISA for whatever reason are temporarily working with the Maroni Family and Shade has been tasked with spying on them so Icicle is prepared for their inevitable betrayal, and it's all very boring until he overhears some goons talking about how there's a hit on that annoying doctor who should have taken the hint the first time, or how they've connected the doctor they blew up years ago with the Dr. Mid-Nite who keeps messing with their operations, or even that they've caught Mid-Nite and plan to gift wrap him for Icicle, and Shade finds himself reacting with, "Oh no, that's the one I like."

- the first time Shade finds out about McNider's eyes

- the Shade talking to an injured McNider through the shadows but not being able to touch him or reach him

- the Shade and McNider in a situation where Shade is completely fine but McNider is definitely not - poison gas, air tight room, too long with no water, etc

- JSA era Dr. Mid-Nite thinking he's dying and asking the Shade to stay with him until he does, and the Shade having a very strong reaction to being asked that (he would in canon era too of course but I don't think he would need to be asked at that point)

- they did more than just talk that night with the absinthe, or if he was being truthful about that night McNider sure left out what happened when Shade showed up the next night

- JSA era Dr. Mid-Nite gets caught by a non-ISA villain when none of the JSA know where he is - Ultra-Humanite, Gentleman Ghost, pick a villain out of a hat - and the Shade either stumbles over him accidentally or hears him from the shadows and goes to investigate (if it was Ultra-Humanite planning to body snatch him but abandoning the plan when he finds out about his eyes that has the fun one-two punch of McNider going, "Oh thank God he's not stealing my brain/"Oh wait, he's only not doing it because I'm too defective, great")

- one of the ISA gets a lucky shot on McNider when he's separated from the rest of the team and the Shade eventually finds him bleeding out, saving him or at least keeping him stable until the rest of the team gets there (especially if the JSA assume the Shade was the one who did it)

- McNider talking Shade through doing emergency surgry or some other kind of delicate medical treatment on him, with or without Shade being able lean on his shadow powers

- Shade not being able to keep an injured Charles warm, or actually making him colder when he touches him, but Charles wanting him to stay close anyway

- McNider being in shock or otherwise delirious and thinking he's back trapped in his bombed out clinic and the Shade trying to keep him calm

- The two of them working a villain who isn't aware of Shade's change of allegiences, and Shade having to hurt him to seal the con (especially if it was McNider's idea)

- JSA era Mid-Nite gets captured by some or all of the ISA, and the Shade has to think fast both to get him out of trouble and to keep the rest of the ISA from finding out about his eyes so it's not a soft target in the future

Both Hurt

I am very weak over any kind of scenario where the two of them are snatched up by a third party and have to work together, especially if they're technically enemies at the time, it is the best. I love them realizing how well they work together.

Wounded doctor must give non-medical character instructions for how to treat them
Injured character tells non-medical person how to treat them while struggling to remain conscious
Character A temporarily loses vision so B must be their eyes

Extra Prompts:- the Shade voluntering for/antagonizing the bad guys until they pick him for whatever torture/interrogation/experimentation is on the table because he knows he'll hold up better and doesn't want to think about that happening to McNider and McNider being furious and helpless about it

- The opposite, McNider stepping up because they've taken his tech and he pragmatically thinks that this is at least something he can do, or he's already hurt and wants to make sure at least one of them gets out of this (or maybe he's trying to keep whoever has them from finding out that Shade is a little more than just human, either to keep it as an ace in the hole or because it will go much worse for Shade if they find out)

- JSA era Dr. Mid-Nite promising the Shade they will get out of this together or not at all, and Shade at first taking that as empty superhero posturing until he realizes how dead serious Charles is

- McNider hiding from the JSA rescue attempt because he knows his friends love him and would forcibly rescue him for his own good, and he will not leave the Shade behind to suffer alone

- While they're trying to escape Charles is too exhausted or hurt to keep up, and Shade stays with him while he rests even though that's an objectively bad idea

- The two of them being kept somewhere that is brightly lit at all times, which ranges from annoying to painful for the Shade but is blinding for McNider, and Shade has to be his eyes when they try to escape

- The Shade uses his shadow powers to let McNider see through his eyes, but as an unintended side effect McNider can feel how much pain he's been hiding or how he's barely holding together

- Anything where either of them pass up the opportunity to escape because the other isn't capable of going with him

- The Shade being hurt or missing and McNider running himself into the ground trying to save him because he knows that if he loses one more person he loves he's going to crack up

Slade/Ollie

I love the tragedy of these two, how the fragile trust they built on the island was destroyed in that series of traumas and betrayals and misunderstandings. There is no Deathstroke or Green Arrow without the island, they created each other, and I love anything with that very long buried foundation coming into play. Or just straight up island fic! I love island fic.

I admit, my memory of later Arrow has gotten a little nebulous as to who was alive when, so setting something in some vague time where Slade is Deathstroke and Ollie is superheroing around is fine with me. I don't like Arrowverse Barry Allen and would prefer him not appearing. I did love Shado though, so feel free to include her! They were an OT3 for me, though I'd still like the main focus of the story to be Slade/Ollie. I love Slade always calling Ollie "kid," please include that but I don't like explicit daddykink for them.

Extra Prompts:

Extra Prompts:

- Anything with Ollie nursing Slade through the infection when he was shot in the arm, or nursing him when his leg got shot up later

- Deathstroke showing up at Ollie's door shot up/beat up because he's out of other options and Ollie having extremely mixed feelings about this

- Ollie finding out through superhero channels that Deathstroke was caught by a different bad guy or was betrayed by an employer and is being tortured, and his conscience getting very itchy even after everything at picturing him dying that way

- Slade getting amnesia where he doesn't remember anything past the island, and not knowing why Ollie hates him (but that he probably deserves it tbf)

- Ollie finding Slade dying/injured/rotting away in a cell and really wanting to leave him there but not able to bring himself to

- Shado's ghost appearing to Ollie and telling him that Slade is hurt and needs him

- Slade running into trouble on the island and hiding that he's hurt until he passes out at the worst possible time

- Slade getting captured and tortured by the island bad guys and Ollie having to pull out all the stops to save him

- Island bad guys grabbing Slade and throwing him in a pit or tying him up somewhere, etc, and by the time Ollie finds him he's delirious and dehydrated/too weak from blood loss to help with the rescue

- Ollie trying to keep Slade from bleeding out in time for Shado to get back with help, while Slade urges him to let him die or finish him off because if the bad guys get back first they're both dead

Extra Prompts
- On the island they're captured by bad guys and either Slade mouths off so they torture him because he knows he can take it or Ollie gets very brave and stupid because he knows they have a much better chance of getting out if Slade's healthy

- Bad guys torture Ollie on the island and he holds up better than anyone really expected but Slade is slowly cracking up watching it, which no one expected

- Slade giving Ollie tips to help him make it through the bad guys' torture because he's been here before, and Ollie feeling terrible about how awful Slade's life has been

- Bad guys giving Ollie the knife and forcing him to use it on Slade, with Slade being, "Go ahead kid, it's okay" about it, which does not help Ollie at all

- Slade patching Ollie up and ignoring his own injuries, with Ollie not realizing it for a long time how bad off Slade is

HawkFate

Please whump the holy hell out of poor Kent and by proxy whump Carter by making him watch Kent going through it, it is everything my heart wants. I would love seeing Kent in pain or in peril crystalizing some things for Carter that he'd felt but not realized, something that crept up on him before he could notice and now he might lose it. I love him noticing that no one looks out for Kent and asks him to do insane things as a matter of course and making a point of not being like that. Kent barely is allowed to be alone in his own head, let alone have the luxury of someone caring about him, and he's told himself that it's part of the sacrifice that's necessary to be Dr. Fate and all the good he can do while wearing that helmet. I love him thinking the chance for love has passed him by or it's something he gave up the chance for, but he still can't guard his heart when he looks at Carter. I like Carter standing up to Waller when she pushes Kent too far (because Kent is not going to stop if he can save someone) or is the one who puts his foot down and makes Kent stop when he's pushed himself too far. I love Kent not being used to someone being there to catch him and Carter not understanding at first why he's the one Kent reaches for when he's hurting (until he figures it out) but he'll be damned if he lets Kent fall. They're so good.

I love Amanda Waller; she is terrible and perfect, if she takes part in the story feel free to make her completely awful

I got an AMAZING back from the dead fix it in a recent exchange so I didn't specifically prompt for that because I'm still in the afterglow, but I am always, always up for Carter pulling Kent back from death.

Extra Prompts:

- Kent passing out/coughing up blood/otherwise wrecking his health with his magic and Carter hovering around him to make sure he's okay

- The conscioussness of a previous user of the helmet "wakes up" and takes over, and Carter is the only one who can pull Kent's mind back to the surface

- Kent/the helmet gets corrupted by a spell/evil artifact/other magic user and Waller treats him like a rogue nuke, but Carter is definitely not having any of that

- Kent asking Carter to stay close while he tries a dangerous spell, and Carter is able to steady him when things start to go wrong

- Kent needs sleep but he's restless from pain or magic overuse, but he settles down when Carter talks to him or touches him

- Kent gets hit with a spell that traps him in dreams; he'll die if he doesn't wake up and Carter goes into the dreamscape after him even though it could kill them both

- Kent goes missing after a mission but they find the helmet; Waller's attitude is "Well, good enough I guess" but it is definitely not good enough for Carter

- Kent grows magic wings as a side effect of a spell and Carter both gives him shit about it and is extremely turned on, but gets serious and takes care of him when things go wrong

- Bad guys have Kent and are hurting him; he shows up in Carter's dreams not expecting a rescue but just because he can handle it if he hears Carter's voice

- Kent voluntarily undergoes a ritual/locks himself in a magical device/etc that will save the world/the team/complete the mission but that is painful enough to essentially be torture, and Carter can't help him but he won't leave him, either

- Waller gives orders to leave an injured Kent behind when a mission goes south (maybe they'll go back for him later, she'll see how things go) and Carter is not obeying that order even a little bit

Thank you! I hope you have a great exchange!
